Jerry A. Caniga

Jerry Caniga, age 67, of Hammond, Indiana, suddenly passed away on December 16, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus Caniga and Carrol (nee Bovenkirk) Caniga. Jerry is survived by 3 siblings, Janet (Tom Grabara) Eriks, James (Deanna) Caniga, and Jill (Ernie) Miller; 2 nephews, Brandon (Syndey) and Tyler (Allie); great niece, Lainey; and loving partner of 25 years, Nadine.

Jerry was a kind and loving partner, son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a love for cars from a young age. He was known to be a master at detailing. He found such happiness and comfort from his beloved cats and took pride in caring for his fish aquarium.

A 1977 graduate of Munster High School, Jerry enjoyed being a member of the Munster Swim Team; where he bonded fondly with his teammates. Being an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching his favorite teams -- Go Blackhawks! Go White Sox! Go Bears! And Go Miami Dolphins!

Jerry had an infectious smile and was a jokester, making sure all was having a good time.
