Jimmy Louis Velasco (Jimbo)
age 64, of Hammond, IN
went to eternal rest on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 8:03pm, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Jimmy is survived by his dear daughters, Nicole (Kevin) Guthrie of Demotte, IN, Alicia Velasco and Ashley Jones, both of Hammond, IN; cherished grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Evelyn and Kaleb; Mother, Delores (late Jose Refugio) Velasco of Hammond; sisters, Olga Cadle of Hammond, Rosemary (Arturo) Gonzalez of Hammond, Lorraine Velasco of Hammond and Elizabeth Velasco of Mexico City; brothers, Albert Velasco of Hammond, David Velasco of Hammond; and many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Edward Velasco and mother of his children, Sharon Kay Durcho.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 5:00 PM at the
Solan Pruzin Funeral Home and Crematory,
14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN
(Corner of Main & Kennedy)
with Rev. Charles A. Mosley officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home. Cremation to follow.
Jimmy was a graduate of Hammond Tech. He was retired from the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad after more than 30 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the Chicago Bears, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Chicago Bulls. He loved to BBQ on his grill with family and friends with some good ol' fashion Motown playing on the radio. He enjoyed going fishing with his late buddy, Homer Covington. He was a deeply devoted and loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.
