Joanne Marie Peters, Age 77, passed away September 29, 2017.  of Highland, formerly of Munster,.  Preceded in death by her loving husbands William Peters, and Joseph T Fijut, brother Roger Domanski, sister-in-law Margaret Domanski, parents John and Marie Domanski.  Beloved mother of Mark (Cheryl) Fijut and Gregory (Susan) Fijut.  Endearing grandmother to Kimberly and Brittney Fijut.  She is survived by brother Donald Domanski and sisters, Beverly (Dennis) Wilhelm; Shirley (Daniel) Wilk; Sandra (James) Golonka  and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375 (corner of Main and Kennedy).  A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Joanne was a professional hair stylist but her greatest gift was her strength of character and resilience. She was a strong matriarch who lovingly raised her family, a loyal daughter, an amazingly supportive sister and a trustworthy friend.  She will be remembered by those who loved her for her ability to persevere in the pursuit of her beliefs at all odds – She lived life and she did it her way.
