JOANNE PRUZIN (NEE SZLANDA)
age 76, of Highland, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Joanne is survived by her loving children, Steven (Cathy) Pruzin of Friendswood, TX and Robert J. (Susanne) Pruzin Sr. of Chesterton; precious grandchildren, Robert Jr. and Ava; brother, Raymond (Carol) Szlanda of Hastings, NE; brother in law Jack (Sharon) Pruzin; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Pruzin; parents, Frank and Wanda Szlanda.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 beginning with 9:30 AM Prayers at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. (corner of Main and Kennedy) Schererville for a 10:00 AM mass at St. James the Less Catholic Church. Joanne will be laid to rest at St. John Catholic Cemetery Hammond, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, February 29, 2016 from 3:00-8:00 PM with a 3:30 prayer service.
Joanne was a 1960 graduate of St. Margaret's Nursing School. She retired as a nurse from Community Hospital, working for Dr. Corse and Dr. Benchik. Joanne was on the Highland Council of Community Events. She loved being with her grandchildren and traveling. Joanne was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
