JOHN A. GONZALEZ
age 79, of Hammond, passed away Friday April 25, 2014. John is survived by his daughters: Teresa (Gordon) Beatty, Debbie (Dan) Stocker, Laura (David) Ramos and Linda Gonzalez-Chapman; sons John A. Gonzalez II and Andre (Kim) Gonzalez; 26 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; brother Jose' Gonzalez; sisters Helen (Tano) Garcia and Mary (Julio) DeLaRosa; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his loving wife Ramona, parents Conception and Gamliel, grandchildren David, Andre and an infant angel.
John was a lifelong area resident and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, retired from Inland Steel after 29 years of service and was a member of Local 1010. John was an avid sports fan especially the Yankees. John was a loving father and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday May 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Joseph Church 5304 Hohman Ave with Fr. Stanley Dominik officiating. At rest Chapel Lawn Cemetery Schererville. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday May 1, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home 7109 Calumet Ave Hammond. Donations in John's honor may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation at lymphoma.org
