John A. Horvat

age 57, of Hammond, passed away Monday December 11, 2017.   He is survived by 4 nieces:  Cheri Uran, Jodi (Tim) Kubiak, Polly Granack and Kathy (John) Quinn; 4 nephews: Todd Uran, David (Katie) Uran, Bobby (Laura) Granack and Joey (Sara) Granack; numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts;  sister-in-law:  Joan (late Bob) Granack; brother-in-law: Gerald (late Joan) Uran; long time Gavit High School friends.   Preceded in death by his parents John & Josephine Horvat and sister Debra Horvat.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 18, 2017at 10:00 AM directly at St John Bosco Church 7113 Columbia Ave. Hammond, IN with Father Richard Orlinski officiating. At rest Elmwood Cemetery Hammond.  John will lie in state at the church from 9:30 AM until time of mass.   Friends may visit with family on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN (corner of Main & Kennedy Ave.) The visitation will be a "Sports Themed" visitation – please where a Cubs, Bears, Hawks, or Chicago Bulls team gear in honor of John A. Horvat.

John loved his family, his work and was a true sports fanatic.  He was a season ticket holder to many Chicago sports teams.   He was very passionate and beloved the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Hawks, and Bulls.    He did tolerate the White Sox along with their fans and would attend some of their games but is was usually to support the Cubs.    The family is requesting in leu of flowers – you may make a donation to Chicago Cubs Charites in John A.
