John C. Peterson

Age 77, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of stories, epic sarcasm, dark humor and a splash of love wrapped in his own unique style. John is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Babette (nee Vaclavik); children: John G. (Annette) Peterson, Shannan (Cliff) Tetrault, Lora (Gary) Joslyn, Terra (Fritz) Groner, Tamara (Robert) Wiarada, and Robert (Danielle) Pace; and 11 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Glenwood and Catherine Peterson.

John loved roaming the country with his wife, camping in Michigan, and loudly objecting to any family member reckless enough to touch his golf cart. He spent most of his time keeping a watchful (and sometimes exasperated) eye on the family—whether it was patching up their beat-up cars, issuing storm warnings like a one-man weather channel, or preaching the gospel of backup sump pumps.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. A Service Celebrating John's Life will be held at 12:00 PM with Deacon Gary Wolfe officiating. Services conclude at the funeral home.
