JOSEPH STEVE KOSTEBA

March 9, 1943 – April 12, 2021

Joseph Steve Kosteba, age 78, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021. He is survived by his loving sons, Joseph Jason Kosteba and Noah James Kosteba, daughters-in-law Brianne Kosteba & Nicolette Kosteba; grandchildren Miles, Colton, Sophia and Vincent; sibling Roger Kosteba and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Raised in Griffith, Indiana, Joseph graduated from Griffith high school, joined the Air Force, and attained the rank of Sargent. After being honorably discharged, he graduated from Purdue and went on to marry his love, Sara, and raise a family. He is fondly remembered as a father, grandfather, soccer coach, avid fisherman, tech junkie, and supreme master of all manner of audio/video cables. Joseph also enjoyed hiking, photography, and unfolding huge paper maps while lost on gravel backroads with the family back in the early 1980s when such maps, and a comically large dash compass, were the only methods of navigation back to civilization. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and when he wasn't able to be with his grandchildren he would call and ask about them. He is dearly missed by his entire family.

His passing is preceded by his wife, Sara Kosteba (née Coe); parents Joseph F. Kosteba and Amelia Kosteba (née Vrlik), and sibling Carol Kaminsky (née Kosteba).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.

A Memorial Service for both Joseph and Sara will be held at 9:30 AM, June 3, 2022 DIRECTLY AT Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421. Please arrive a half hour before start of services. Services entrusted to Solan Pruzin Funeral Home and Crematory.
