Josephine "Mutti" R. Stoffregen (Brennan)

age 87, of Highland, IN/Key Largo, Florida passed away Tuesday December 8, 2015. Josephine was born September 10, 1928 and is survived by her Children: Theodore (Yolanda) Stoffregen, Miller Beach, IN, Joellen (Ken) Griffin, Miller Beach, IN, Michael (Sandi) Stoffregen, Munster, IN, Matthew (Jeanne) Stoffregen, Lake Village, IN, Ginger (Jeff) Richardson, Hammond, IN, Phillip (Lisa) Stoffregen, Indianapolis, IN, Margaret (Terry) DeYoung, Lowell, IN, Mary Kate Scandone, Fountain Valley, CA, Amy (Maurice) Klefeker, Littleton, CO; Grandchildren: Jonathan Stoffregen, Joshua (Desiree) Stoffregen, Matthew Milletary, Kevin Milletary, Beth (Joel) Cavallo, Kelly Griffin, Kim Griffin, Richard Stoffregen, Michael Stoffregen, Gina (Danny) Roak, Nick Stoffregen, William Richardson, Meggie Richardson, Patrick (Angela) Stoffregen, Katelyn Stoffregen, Lauren Stoffregen, Jacob DeYoung, Jessie De Young, Dylan DeYoung, Jolie Klefeker, Maddie Klefeker;
Great Grandchildren: Claire Milletary, Leo Milletary, Peyton Stoffregen, Christopher Stoffregen;
Sister Mary Ginther, Chicago, IL;Dozens of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband of sixty years Robert H. Stoffregen Sr. Her sons Robert H. Stoffregen Jr. and Peter Stoffregen, Grandson Sam Stoffregen, Parents Richard and Ellen Brennan, Twin Sister Kathleen Engelbrecht, sister Nellie Quan, Brothers Tom and John Brennan.

Josephine was a graduate of Purdue Calumet, member of the Women's Coalition of Purdue Calumet, an advocate for women's rights and a contributing writer for the Purdue Skylark.
She also formed chapters of Alanon and Families Anonymous in NWI. Of her many accomplishments, she was the most proud of her big and boisterous family whom she taught to make fun from nothing and splendor from ordinary. She was a giving wife, a loving mother, an enthusiastic grandmother and a caring friend. She was an avid seeker of the sunshine, although those who knew her could see that it was of sunshine from which she was made. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. John Bosco Catholic Church 7113 Columbia Ave Hammond, IN with Fr. Richard Orlinski officiating. Josephine will lie in state at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service. Cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville, IN. In lieu of flowers donations in Josephine's honor can be sent to the Optimist Club of Hammond or Hospice of the Calumet Area.
