Juan F. Martinez

age 90, of Schererville, formally East Chicago, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his family. He is survived by his devoted children: Martha (Jerry) Balaz, Teresa (Michael) Rosen, Rosanelly (Gary) Reyes, and Juan Carlos (Andrea) Martinez; precious grandchildren: George (Jeannette), Andrew (Stephanie), Matthew, Adam, Michael, Gregory, Lauren, Cristen and Evan; great-grandchildren, Caden, Malani and Malia; sisters, Olga (Tomas) Alvarez and Hermila Martinez, of Monterrey, Mexico; brothers, Gustavo (Maria) Martinez and Alvaro (Rosa) Martinez, both of Texas; along with numerous cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife, Martha; parents, Juan de Dios Martinez and Maria; siblings, Candido, Eloy and Alberto, of Monterrey, Mexico.

A proud and dedicated employee of Inland Steel, Juan retired after 40 years of loyal service. He was known as a hard worker who exemplified diligence and integrity. A lifelong diehard Cubs fan, Juan loved cheering on his team and celebrating their victories.

Juan had a passion for good food and enjoyed  exploring new restaurants and sharing meals with loved ones. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His warm smile, generous spirit, and kind heart made him loved by all who knew him. Juan's legacy of love and hard work will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday January 12, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. Funeral service will be held on Monday January 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. Burial at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, IN.
