Karen L. Domsich (nee Yonke)

Age 75, of Whiting, IN, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Donald Domsich; beloved children, Jennifer Domsich and Brian Domsich; and brother, Richard (Barbara) Yonke. She is preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Magdelene Yonke (nee Bodie).

Karen is a 1966 graduate from Bishop Noll and she attended St. Joseph Calumet College. She received her master's degree from Purdue University. Karen taught for over 40 years at several area elementary schools including, Immaculate Conception in Whiting, Holy Trinity in East Chicago, and St. Casimir in Hammond. She went above and beyond to encourage and support her students and was a favorite teacher to many.

In her free time from teaching, Karen enjoyed arts and crafts such as ceramics and needlepoint, taking road trips to places like Ft. Wayne, Shipshewana, and Frankenmuth, MI, trying new recipes and rooting for Bulls basketball and Notre Dame football. She was also an avid reader and had a large and varied collection of books.
