Kathleen "Kathy" Johannsen (nee Lloyd)

Age 75, of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 23, 2025.  She is survived by her loving husband, David; dear children: Rodney (Becky) Rich, Phil (Dawn) Johannsen, Lisa (late, David) George, and Joseph Johannsen; precious grandchildren: Steven, Joshua, Alexis, Emily, Alyssa, Andrew, Megan, and Anthony; great-grandchildren, Leo and Alina; brothers, Timothy (Barbara) Lloyd and Larry Lloyd; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Rosco Lloyd, Jr.

Kathy was a 1967 graduate of Gavit High School. She found joy in the simplest yet meaningful moments in life. She was deeply devoted to her faith and found comfort in saying the rosary daily. Music filled her heart, and she enjoyed all genres, though her favorite was the religious radio station.

Family was the cornerstone of Kathy's life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially caring for her special needs grandson, who brought her immense pride and purpose. Her home was filled with warmth and laughter, especially during lighthearted debates with her beloved husband, which became a source of joy for all who witnessed them.

Kathy's kind spirit, unwavering faith, and love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park in Crown Point.
