Kathryn I. Jefferson (nee Witecki)

age 79, of Schererville, formerly of Glen Park, Indiana, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Kathryn is survived by her beloved children, Carol (Greg) Vengrin and Vernon (Nora) Jefferson;  dear grandchildren: Annastasia, Christian (Lyndee), Jacob; precious great grandchildren: Kevin, Gianna, Adalia, Andrew, Jackson; Sister, Jerry (Jimmy) Steed; Niece, Cara (Tim) Witecki, and great nephew, Tyler. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Irene Witecki; Siblings Frank Witecki, Carolyn Witecki, Roger Witecki; and her dear love, Jimmy D. Thompson.

Kathryn was a class of 1963 graduate from Lew Wallace High School. She was very talented and won multiple national baton twirling awards. She was a manager at" Liquor City" in Calumet City and then Dolton, IL., where she showed exemplary leadership and teamwork skills. Kathryn loved to read books, as well as traveling with her sister and playing solitaire. She enjoyed watching General Hospital, but especially loved watching her grandkid's band recitals and games.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00PM – 8:00PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. In lieu of flowers please donate to a diabetes or kidney foundation.
