Kathryn “Kay” A. Johnson (nee Miller)

age 84, of Hessville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. She was born on June 20, 1942, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Catherine lived a life filled with quiet strength, intellectual curiosity, and love for her family.

Kathryn is lovingly remembered by her devoted daughter, Nancy Johnson; sister, Karen (late, Lou) Wearzin; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Edward) Moskalick and Carol (late, Ronald Johnson) Brown; brother-in-law, Doran Malone; many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and her beloved furry princess, Ziggy Cupcake, who brought her endless companionship and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Miller and Agnus Miller (nee Frank); sister, Karyl Malone; brother, Charles Miller; brother-in-law, Larry (Paulette) Johnson

Raised in Steger, Illinois, Kathryn carried with her a lifelong love of learning. She found great enjoyment in reading and had a keen interest in politics, always staying informed about current events and engaging in thoughtful conversations. She appreciated the simple pleasures of life and treasured the time spent with those closest to her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Solan – Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, Indiana. Services conclude at the Funeral Home.

Kathryn’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
