Leonard R. Geissendorfer

78 years of age, of Schererville, formerly of Hammond, Indiana passed away at home on Tuesday, September 29th surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra (nee Stevens); daughters, Natalie (John) Taylor of Schererville, Shelley (Danny) Jones of Schererville; 4 grandchildren, Lauren (Josh) Wilson, Matthew (Kelly) Taylor, Daniel and Dallon Jones; great granddaughter, Aria Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents, and sister, Rosemarie Hansen.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon, Friday, October 2, 2015 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. (Corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville, IN 46375 with Rev. Edward Tlucek officiating. Leonard will be laid to rest directly after the service at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville, IN. A visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 3 till 8 p.m.

Leonard was Union Carpenter for over 50 years, and worked for the School City of Hammond for 38 years as a Forman and Maintenance Coordinator. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion post #485, Schererville, IN. He loved fishing, boating, and playing golf. He enjoyed his 4th of July birthday celebration every year, and cherished time with his family at the cottage at Lake Shafer.
