Loretta Quiles

age 65, of Hammond, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 28, 2025. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Loretta is survived by her loving children: Rena Quiles, Lucia (Dwayne) Archie, and Jesse Quiles; her cherished grandchildren: Scottie, Tatyana, Christopher and Khania Ray; Seferina Quiles-Ceja, Lorenzo Ceja, Alejandro and Xavier Sofer and Jesse Quiles Jr. She is also survived by her sisters, Yvone (Larry) Wright and Cindy Walton; brother, Stanley (Melissa) Soderland, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Preceded in death by her parents Lucia Gasca (nee Fuentes) and Leonard Soderland; beloved sons, Roy  Quiles Jr. and Roy (Patricia Johnson) Quiles III.

Loretta was a Southside native, dedicated employee of Huhtamaki, where she worked timelessly for 40 years before retiring in 2023. Known for her unwavering work ethic, Loretta truly loved to work and took great pride in all she did. When not on the job, she was caring for her grandkids. She found joy in her garden, where she spent countless hours nurturing life and beauty.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., SCHERERVILLE, IN. A Service Celebrating Loretta's Life will be held at 6:30 PM. Services conclude at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made directly to the family.

Loretta will be remembered for her strength, devotion, and deep love for her family. Her legacy will live on in our hearts of all who knew and loved her.
