Lucy Mendoza (nee Villegas)

age 73, of East Chicago, IN was called home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.  Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jesus Mendoza; dear children, Angie (Patrick) Rosado, Dora (Louie) Rodriguez and Gabriel (Donna) Mendoza; precious grandchildren, Chris (Nancy) Rosado, Sierra Rosado, Jessica Rosado (fiancé, Alex Garcia), Jesse Mendoza, Kara Rodriguez, Clarissa Argandona and Allanah Gandara ; great grandchildren, Samuel and Sophia Rosado, Ahnali A & Louis G; sisters, Maria Villegas and Carmen Lucero; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, TiBurcio and Amada Villegas; sister, Juanita Villegas; brother, TiBurcio Villegas Jr. and sister Lupe Garcia.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10:30 AM Directly at St. Stanislaus Church, 808 West 150 ^th Street East Chicago, IN, with Msgr. John J. Siekierski officiating. Lucy will lie in repose at the church from 9:30 am until time of Mass. Services conclude at church. Please wear mask and social distance at church. Solan Pruzin Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.

Lucy graduated from Hammond High School in 1965. She retired after 33 years of service as a Insurance Benefits Specialist from Inland Steel/ ArcelorMittal. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing bunco, bingo and gambling at the local casinos. Lucy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be dearly missed.
