Madeline Rose (Udowski) Summers

Age 72, passed away in Zionsville, Indiana on Sunday April 29, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband Tom and their children; Andrea (Dr. Ted) Winkler, Thomas (Jessie) Summers and Anthony (Jennifer) Summers; grandchildren, Lauren and Nicholas Winkler, Anna, Lilly, and Carolyn Summers; sister, Nancy (Dr John) Gustaitis, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.  She is preceded in death by her father, Anthony and her mother, Madelyn Udowski.

Madeline graduated from East Chicago Washington in 1963 and was always a proud "Senator". She graduated from Indiana University in 1967 with a BS in Speech and Audiology. Later she attended Purdue University and achieved a Masters Degree plus 30 hours in Guidance and Counseling.

Madeline was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Psi Iota Xi, ISTA, and a Life Member of the IU Alumni Association.

Her teaching career spanned 38 years.  She spent twenty years in the East Chicago School system as a Speech Pathologist and the  last eighteen years as a Guidance Counselor at Portage West in the remembered for her drive and courage.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 5:00PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home and Crematory, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN with Deacon Raymond Helfen officiating.  Cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home.
