Margarita E. Alvarez

Age 63, of East Chicago, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017. Margarita is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Daniel; devoted children: Ignacio (Theresa) Gomez, Francisco Gomez, Jennifer Alvarez, Vincent (Lisa) Alvarez, Jessica (Jasper Borrego) Alvarez, Jeanette (Domingo) Camarillo and Daniel (Erika Gonzalez) Alvarez; 23 precious grandchildren and 3 great grandbabies; 10 siblings; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Ester, brother Francisco.

Margarita was born in East Chicago and was a resident for 53 years. She attended Roosevelt H.S. and met the love of her life in 1973, Maggie and Daniel were married in August of that year. A family oriented woman, Maggie was a "Mom to all", who loved music and enjoyed dancing. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed swimming, hiking and fishing at parks; especially Turkey Run. When able, she liked to travel with Dan in his truck and on her travels once had the opportunity to swim with the dolphins in Puerto Vallarta. Margarita loved to cook and feed her family and we will especially miss her menudo around the holidays.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville, IN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 PM with cremation at Solan Pruzin to follow.
