Mark S. Sudicky
age 61, of Highland, IN, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Patty; beloved children, Michael (Laurie) Herkey and Kenneth (Courtney) Poppa; grandchildren Laney and Cooper Poppa, dear brother and sisters: Gregory (Jennifer) Sudicky, Nicole (Kevin) Eagan, Mary Sudicky, Julia Sweeney, Christine (Anthony) Ferrini and brother-in-law James Sweeney; nieces and nephews Garrett (Kayla) Sudicky, Paige Sudicky (Anthony Lara), Emily (Jerrett) Tite, Margaret Eagan, Nathan (Sarah) Eagan, Katherine Bobek, Nicholas Dedelow, Sage Sweeney, Sierra Sweeney, and Sedona Sweeney. Mark is preceded in death by beloved parents, George and Helen Sudicky (nee Korba), and Godfather, Msgr. Frank Korba.
Mark was a 1980 graduate of Gavit High School in Hammond, IN. He went on to Purdue University and the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where he earned his Master's Degree. Mark was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed sailing, fishing, going on hikes in the Dunes, and running marathons, including qualifying for the prestigious Boston Marathon. He ran his 10th marathon in Chicago on 10/10/10. Mark was deeply faithful and active in his parish community. Inspired culturally, he was a voracious reader, rock music aficionado, independent movie-goer, and energetically engaged in philosophical discussions. More than all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family and friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 8103 Columbia Ave, Munster, IN. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a 5:00 PM Parastas at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
