Mary "Jane" Fisher (nee Wasko) 84, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Sunday, October 13, 2024. She was born December 2, 1939 in East Chicago. She is survived by her brother, John Wasko; her beloved children: Laura Fisher-Pramuk, Christopher Fisher, and Jill Fisher; and her precious grandchildren: Nicole Pramuk, Sarah Pramuk, Izabella Fisher and Ezra Fisher.
Jane graduated from Indiana University and proudly cheered on the Hoosiers. She worked as a social worker for over 20 years. She enjoyed sports and watching her children and grandchildren participate in cross county, baseball, softball and soccer. Jane's travels took her to Thailand, Poland, Italy and Canada. She especially loved her Florida and Michigan trips with the bridge club. She took pleasure in volunteering at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond and her favorite hobby was knitting for the Hospice Artisans. Jane was a kind and giving person who was beloved by her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:30 AM DIRECTLY at St. James the Less Church, 9640 Kennedy Ave. Highland, IN with Fr. Gregory Bim-Merle officiating. Services conclude at the church. An option to flowers, a donation to Hospice of the Calumet Area in Jane Fisher's name.
