age 80, of Hammond, Indiana passed away peacefully in Munster, Indiana on February 20, 2017 at 1:58 A.M.  Mary Ann was born August 26, 1936 in East Chicago, Indiana. Her parents were John Peter and Mary (Butch) Cassody. She graduated from East Chicago Washington High School in 1955. Mary Ann celebrated her 59th wedding anniversary with her husband Lou Kwell on September 21, 2016. She worked as a Clerk at Indiana Harbor Belt for 44 years. Mary Ann was a long-time member of the Maywood Civic Club and enjoyed watching all of her favorite sports teams there, especially the Chicago Cubs.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Lou Kwell; her son, Louis (Kathy) Kwell; her grandchildren, Sherry (Bill) Loving, Sarra Kwell, and Samantha Kwell; great-grandchildren, Lorelei Loving, Dominic Jakubowicz, and William "Hank" Loving; her siblings, Helen (Lou) Gacsy, Velma (Fred) Palla, John Peter, and Joe Peter.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents and great-grandchild, Kadence Loving.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville, IN. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Cremation at Solan Pruzin to follow.
