Mary (Pazdur) Parson

passed away peacefully in her home on March 30, 2016 following a sudden illness. Mary was born July 19, 1924 in East Chicago, IN to loving parents, Andrew and Josephine (Lapatka) Pazdur, both decreased.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to her children, their families, and her many friends and neighbors. She was a 65 year resident of Hessville, raising her four children along with her husband and her children's many pets, rabbits, turtles, doves, dogs and a pony over the years to the delight of her children. She was a member of St. Catherine of Seine Church, Golden Gems and Rosary Society. Mary was a longtime member of Hessville VFW #7881 Ladies Auxiliary and Hessville Democratic Club.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Parson, Sr., a decorated disabled veteran of WWII; her eldest daughter, Marilyn J. Parson; and five older brothers, Joseph, Frank, John, Stanley and Albert Pazdur.

Surviving Mary are three children, Robert (Maureen) Parson, Jr. (San Diego, CA), Jack (Valerie) Parson (Crown Point, IN), Charlene (Wheeler) Newman (Thomasville, GA). Six grandchildren, Dr. Sean Parson (Flagstaff, AZ), Andrew Parson (Crown Point, IN) , Mathew (Nattawan) Parson (Los Angeles, CA) , Wheeler (Kristen) Newman, Jr. (Orlando, FL), Ryan Newman (Orlando, FL), Katelyn Newman (Thomasville, GA) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. Catherine of Seine Church, 6525 Kentucky Ave., Hammond, IN at 10 am on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.
