Age 28, of Chicago, IL formerly of Munster, IN passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016. He is survived by his loving mother, Donna (nee Czerwinski); brother, Joseph E. Skertich of Crown Point; sister, Stephanie A. Skertich of Chicago, IL; Aunt Rosalie Skertich-Bobby of Schererville; best buddy, his dog Molly; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Matt is preceded in death by his father, Joseph J. Skertich Jr, and grandparents.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8501 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN 46321 with Rev. Michael J. Yadron officiating. Prayers will start at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Matthew will be laid to rest directly after at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave, (corner of Main and Kennedy) Schererville, IN 46375 from 2 till 9 p.m. with a 3:30 p.m. prayer service.
Matt graduated from Purdue University in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and was a brother of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Matt was a 2006 Munster High School graduate and was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, where he went to elementary school. Upon graduating from Purdue University Matt was employed by bel Americas in Chicago, IL as the Regulatory Affairs Manager.

Matt will be fondly remembered for his infectious smile, contagious laugh, adventurous spirit, and loving heart.
