Michael Wayne Katchmar

Michael Katchmar, age 62, formerly of Whiting, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2017.  Michael is survived by his loving family, daughter Rachel (Derek) Runge; niece, Kacie Sawadski; the mother of his daughter, Mary Puntney; and sister, Marina (James, Shelley, and Katie) Klochan. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Mary Katchmar; and his sister, Mary Joyce (David) Sawadski.

Michael graduated from Indiana University and worked for the State of Indiana until retirement. He was a loving father and enjoyed spending time in nature, playing the guitar, and helping others.

We will always carry his memory in our hearts and he will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375 (corner of Main St. and Kennedy Ave.) from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM with a service at 2:00 PM.
