Michael “Mike” S. Ogorek

Age 74, of Munster, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, following a brief period of medical complications.

Born and raised in Hammond, then moved to Munster, Indiana, in his teens; Mike was a proud graduate of Munster High School, Class of 1969. He went on to dedicate many years of service to NIPSCO, from which he later retired.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, and his devoted partner and friend of 34 years, Rosemary Swanson-Ogorek. He will be deeply missed by his children, Michael “Mikie” S. (Kristen) Ogorek, Michelle (Matthew) Sheridan and Michale DeLong; Elizabeth Trevino, and Jessica (Jeramiah) Lain; his cherished grandchildren, Kyler, Marin, Andrew, Savannah, Lucas and Benjamin “Ben”; and his siblings, Kathleen “Kathy” (Dave) Dubrick, Jeffrey “Jeff” (fiancé, Julie) Ogorek, and Jennifer “Jen” (Jim) Koedker; and many nieces and nephews. Mike is also survived by his former wife, Mary (Steve) Miller, with whom he shared important years and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Frances (nee Knapik) Ogorek; his dear daughter, Melinda DeLong; his precious grandchild, Micah DeLong; dear nephew, David M. Dubrick.

Mike was an avid fisherman and hunter who found great peace in outdoors. He was a devoted Chicago White Sox fan and rarely missed a chance to cheer on his team. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.

A dedicated and supportive father, Mike generously gave his time coaching youth baseball, soccer, and track, impacting countless young lives along the way. His steady presence, quiet strength, and deep love for his family will be remembered always.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with services taking place at 7:30 PM, at Solan – Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, Indiana. Burial will take place at a later date.

Mike’s legacy of love, dedication, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
