Michael William Stadnik III

age 65, of Hammond, was welcomed by his waiting family into Heaven on what would have been his late father's 100 ^th birthday, October 21, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. When being born February 28, 1952, Michael blessed his parents Josephine A. Stadnik (nee Bindas) and Michael William Stadnik Jr. Michael was a lifelong resident of Hammond. He was a 1970 graduate of Hammond High School, attended Indiana State University for 2 ½ years and then came home to work at Inland/Arcelor Mittal for 43 years.

While working at the mill, for 7 years Michael cared for our mother /grandmother who had Alzheimer's. He then retired in 2014. Michael enjoyed watching movies, reading, listening to music, fishing and intently following the Blackhawks, Bears and Cubs. He was a skilled photographer and inherited the gift of conversation; Michael could talk with anyone and he used that gift well. Three of the happiest times of Michael's life were his marriage to Jennifer Stadnik (nee Wilson) and the birth of his sons Michael John and Mark Joseph. The fourth being when the Bears won the Super Bowl in 1986 and the fifth when the Cubs won the National League Pennant and the World Series in 2016.

Those Michael leaves behind to keep his memory eternal are his sons Michael John (Angie) Stadnik and Mark Joseph Stadnik; sister Joellen Katherine Stadnik; former wife Jennifer Stadnik; aunt Helen Sawchuck and numerous cousins and friends; special and devoted friend Laura Demarco, to whom his family is eternally grateful. Adoring and devoted dogs Boo Boo and Ami Stadnik. Michael was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends are invited to meet with the family to celebrate Michael's life on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home 7109 Calumet Ave Hammond, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Michael's honor to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or the  Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org
