Minerva A. Trevino (nee Almaraz)

Age 90, of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026.

Minerva was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life centered around faith, family and service to others. A longtime member of Holy Trinity Croatian Church, her faith remained an important part of her life.

She was a dedicated homemaker and also served as secretary of the Dialysis Club from 1981 to 1982. In the late 1980’s through the 1990’s, Minerva worked alongside Dr. Walsh, and later with Carson from the late 1990’s until 2001. She took pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout the years.

Minerva greatly enjoyed traveling to Texas and spending time visiting with the family, creating lasting memories that will be fondly remembered.

She is survived by her loving children, Noe (Karen) Trevino and Lydia (Manuel) Calderon; precious grandchildren, Christopher (Maricela) Trevino, Ryan (Seth) Trevino, Alexia Calderon, Nicolas Calderon; special, great-grandchildren, Celeste Trevino and Abigail Trevino.

Minerva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Noe Trevino; cherished son, Rene Trevino; parents, Juan Almaraz and Tomasita Almaraz; and loving siblings, Juan Almaraz, Jose Almaraz, Maria (Luis) Cadena, and Guadelupe (Isidro) Bautista.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:00 AM on January 23, 2026 at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, Indiana, with Rev. Leonardo J. Gajardo officiating. Minerva will Lie-In-State at the church from 9:30 AM, until time of service. Burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana.
