Monicka Therese Matulewicz (nee Kondrat)

age 55, of Highland, IN, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home with loved ones on September 8, 2022. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 30 years, John; precious children, Leah and Benjamin; sister, Rebecca (Robert) Bennett; brother, Stephen (Lynn) Kondrat; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Biyanka Kondrat.

Monicka was born and raised in Griffith, Indiana and attended Valparaiso University to receive her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She was proud of being a nurse for 30 years and worked in critical care and PACU. Monicka had a passion for taking care of others, especially when it came to her patients. She was a beautiful, selfless soul and could make anything beautiful. Monicka was a devout Catholic, you would often hear Relevant Radio on in the house, especially as she listened to the daily Mass and Rosary. She had an amazing talent of gardening and cooking, often being called the "master gardener". You never left her home hungry. To know her was to love her.

A Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 12, 2022 DIRECTLY at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Ave, Highland, IN with Rev. Gregory A. Bim-Merle officiating.  Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Relevant Radio and/or a church of your choice.
