Age 82, of Hammond, IN, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Nick is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen (nee Popyk); daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Kikalos; son, Guy Kikalos; daughter, Mary (Jay) Harris; son, Nick Jr. (Sheila) Kikalos; 19 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine (late Dan) Orlich, Genevieve (late Lawrence) Berg. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Patrick; and brothers, Peter and Jimmy.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN 46375 (corner of Main St. and Kennedy Ave.) from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 12, 2017 DIRECTLY at St. Demetrios Hellenic Church, 7021 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN 46324 with Rev. David G. Bissias Officiating.  Nick will be laid to rest directly after at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.

Born in Greece, Nick entered the Hoosier state at a young age with his feet running. He was a business pioneer, a productive part of the community, and above all our family's rock. With his entrepreneurial spirit, he started Kelly's Drive In, several Nifty Burgers restaurants then opened and operated the "Nicks Liquors Chain", all by the age of 35. Nick loved spending time with his precious grand and great grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture for his Michigan home. He also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with his "Vegas boys ".In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org/donate or Hospice of Calumet Area www.hospicecalumet.org would be appreciated.
