Nirdosh J Kumar

Our beloved mother, Mrs. Nirdosh J Kumar, passed away on June 12, 2022 at her home in Dyer Indiana.  She was born on November 7, 1933 in India and was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Jitendra Kumar.

She is survived by her brother Mr. Raj Kishan Khanna, sisters Mrs. Nirmal Mehta (Jagdish), Mrs. Chanchal Verma (Virendra); her three beloved sons and daughter in laws – Piush Kumar (Sunaina), Atul Kumar (Priti) and Sanjeev Kumar (Dawn).  She has six grandchildren who gave her great joy throughout her long life and were much loved by her - Ashish (Alicia), Pooja, Arjun, Megha, Shailee (David) and Shivani. She has one great grandson who she just adored – Liam. She is also survived by many Brother and Sister in Laws, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kumar attended Sophia College Ajmer from 1941 to 1949 and at a young age of 18 years she sailed to London from India to see the coronation of Queen Elizabeth.  While in London she toured with Lady Baden Powell to establish and participated in the set-up of the Girl Scout Movement in Europe.  Upon her return to India, she taught at the Lady Irwin College in Delhi and in 1958 she married a young dashing Captain in the Indian Army, our father.

She was a very loving and independent lady, much loved by all and full of beautiful memories and stories for all she met.  We will all miss her greatly.

Services will be at Sloan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, Indiana.  Visitation will be on Wednesday June 15th 2022, from 12pm to 1:30pm, followed immediately by a short prayer service and Cremation.
