Nora G. Lozano
Age 81, of Highland, formerly of Colorado and South Dearing, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Nora is survived by her loving children, Joel (Juanita) Archuleta and Gail (Daniel) Galich; precious grandchildren: Juanita Archuleta, David (Lanora) Garibay, Alexander Tellez, Carl (Diana) Garibay, Christopher Tellez, Steven Butts, Daniel (Angela) Garibay, Celeste Butts, and Gina (Arron) Hinton; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and siblings: Ida (Eugene) Martinez, Henry (Francis) Aranda, Diana Williams, and Gilbert (Kimberly) Manzanares. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ramon; parents, Celestino Aranda and Juanita Manzanares; and sisters: Delia, Irma, Mary, and Maxine.
Nora enjoyed a fulfilling career before retiring with the Chicago Tribune and City Colleges of Chicago. Nora was an enthusiastic and compassionate community activist and her spirit of volunteerism was evident in her years as a Girl Scout leader. Dancing was one of her favorite loves and she never missed an opportunity to share a dance and spread happiness.
She was a devoted and active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She was also a proud member of Our Lady of Grace Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. If anyone ever needed a prayer, Nora was the one they turned to—her faithfulness and commitment to her beliefs were unwavering.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 10:30 AM DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 3025 Highway Ave., Highland, IN 46322 with Rev. Brian Chadwick officiating. Nora will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Solan Pruzin Funeral Home.
