Ollie Hugh Smithey

In loving memory of Ollie Hugh Smithey born in Lacy Springs, Al. Preceded in passing by his parents, Ollie A. Smithey and Zelma L. Maccmaners-Smithey. Siblings: Tommy (Joyce) Smithey, Mary (Gerold) Short, William (Glenda) Smithey, and Herold (Kitty) Smithey. Survived by: wife Barbara Smithey and Crystal Smithey. Siblings: Shelby (Milton) Mullins, Opel (Carl) Larkin, Jimmie (Richard) Lambert, and Ann (Wayne) Durham. Children: David Smithey, Deborah Smithey, Terry Smithey, Jeffrey Smithey (Tammy Miller), Suzi Smithey (Billy Cather), Edward Smithey, and Amber Smithey. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews.
Born in Alabama Ollie spent most of his adult life in northwest Indiana. He was a hardworking member of the local 41 laborers union and went in to retire from the Hammond Carpenter's union. Ollie was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Services for Ollie will be at Solan-Pruzin funeral home on Wed January 4th from 2-8pm with a prayer and a final farewell given at 7pm.
