IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Ruth
Stahura
September 4, 1928 – January 2, 2018
Patricia Ruth Stahura
age 89, died on Jan. 2, 2018 at Wittenberg Village in Crown Point, Ind., where she lived for the past seven years. She was born in East Chicago, Ind., on Sept. 4, 1928 to the late Alex and Elizabeth (Jevyak) Miller.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1966, and by all of her siblings: Florence, Jean, William, Marilyn, and Dorothy, and by her last child, Michael. She is survived by children Barbara (Ken Willingham) Stahura, Jean Lambert, Martin (Donna) Stahura, Joyce Thomas, and Jennifer Giordonello; and by grandchildren Nathan Stahura, Rebecca Lambert, Taylor (Daniel) Mathis, Alexis Giordonello, and Kellie Willingham; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed decades-long friendships with her in-laws Ann Resetar, Dolores Stahura, and Thomas "Tuck" Mambourg. She was awaiting the imminent birth of her first great-grandchild, Hudson Michael Mathis.
When her husband died in 1966, Pat was left to raise her five children, aged 14 years to 18 mos., which she did with determination, resilience, and much love. Several years later, she took a job as a teller at Calumet Federal Savings & Loan and rose to bookkeeper while remaining there until her retirement. Even after a stroke in 2010 caused her to move to Wittenberg Village, she remained as independent as possible for as long as she could. Although aphasia left her unable to speak well, her sense of humor never left her. She was thrilled to have lived long enough to see her Cubs finally win the World Series. We miss her terribly and cherish all the memories we have of her.
A memorial service will be held in late May at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Hammond, Ind., followed by burial in St. John Cemetery. Condolences may be made at solanpruzinfuneralhome.com.
