Paul was born in Calumet City, Illinois on February 12, 1929. He was an all-state football player at Hammond Tech in high school. He served in the US military for four years during the Korean Conflict. He met Joy at Wells Street Beach in Miller, Indiana. They were married in 1954. They lived in East Chicago (Roxana) where they had and raised four children, Doug, Scott, Rick and Melani.
Paul was a natural athlete – a football player, swimmer and fan. Sports were a big part of family life, from little league to high school and beyond. He was also an avid fisherman, no one could fillet a bluegill faster or better. He loved to fish, and teach the kids as well. There were many great days spent on the lake at the cabin with family and friends, fishing, swimming and relaxing.
Paul is also survived by good friends of many years George Timko Jr., Andy Royco and preceded in death by lifelong friend Matthew 'Butch' Krucina. Paul was big hearted. He was generous with his time and quick to help a family member or friend. You could always count on him to help you out of a tough spot. He also loved to tell jokes and make people smile
A Celebration of Paul's life will be held in the spring and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask instead that a donation be made to Parkinson's foundation
