Paul Palmy, age 100, of Highland, formerly of East Chicago, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at home peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Survived by his partner of many years, Maralyn Gaza of Highland; three nieces, Pam (Lee) Lawrence, Kimberly (Anthony) Klapkowski, Beverly (John) Kleist; two nephews, Michael (Barb) Devore, Jeffery Rompola; ten great nieces and nephews; and special thank you to caregiver Lara Ahlf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hermina (Smoliar) Palmy and beloved wife Evelyn (Devore) Palmy (d. 1995).

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. James the Less, Highland with Rev. Peter Muha officiating. Entombment will immediately follow the Mass at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN.

Mr. Palmy was a member of St. James the Less Parish in Highland; also a member of Sacred Heart Parish in East Chicago until it closed; lifetime member of Knights of Columbus, East Chicago, an avid golfer, cherished spending time with the "Panera Boy's", enjoyed traveling around the region listening to Maralyn sing, and a retired employee of Standard Oil.
