Phyllis D. Elo (nee Zencka)

age 89, of St. John, Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026. Phyllis is survived by her loving children: John R. (Rae) Elo, Philip (Lori) Elo, Brian (Melanie) Elo, Timothy (Lisa) Elo; grandchildren, Melanie (Mike) Pieper, Daniel (Nicole) Broholm, Charlotte, Abigail, Jack, Grace, Darby, Nolan and Cordelia Elo; great grandchildren, Lucy and Max Pieper; siblings, Marsha Troyer and Cynthia Ellis. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, John B. Elo; daughter, Karen (still living, Mark) Broholm; grandson, Benjamin Elo; and brother, Raymond (Late, Carol) Zencka.

Phyllis was a proud graduate of Bishop Noll Institute, Class of 1954. She devoted her life to raising her children and found her greatest joy in time spent with her grandchildren. Family was always at the center of her life, and she will be remembered for her love, dedication, and the care she showed to those closest to her.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, 8303 Taft St., Merrillville, IN 46410 with Rev. Steven Caraher officiating. At rest St. John Cemetery Hammond, IN. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service.
