Rafael Carlos Colón
Age 51, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Rafael is survived by his loving Mother, Anita Félix; Father, Rafael Colón; and his Step-Mother, Luz Colón.; late grandparents, Carlos F. Ramos; Modesta F. Ramos; Rafael Colón Sr., Camerina Colón; and Pablo López (living). He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Nathaniel Colón; Elena (Steven) Thomas and Valerie (Zach) Norris; aunts, Raquel A. (Ted) Colón, (late) Alma Olivaria, Gladys Colón, Belinda (late, John) Galanos, Martha Colón; Idalia (Freddy) Sánchez, Lucia (David) Visitine, (late) Fred Félix, Arlene Davis; uncle, Charles (Julia) Félix, (late) Mary Banks; nieces and nephews, Christian and Kora Thomas; Vivian and Vincent Norris, along with many dear family and friends.
Rafael was a proud Lake Central High School graduate, Class of 1993. Rafael then went on to attend ITT Technical Institute, where he earned an Associate’s Degree and then a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
He dedicated his career to his work at Maple Leaf Foods in Indianapolis.
Rafael had a wide range of passion that brought joy to his life. He was an avid fan of fast cars and Car Racing like the “Indy 500” and “Nascar Racing.”He had a deep appreciation for Art and Music, the likes of The Grateful Dead, Classic Rock, to Puerto Rican Cuatro Guitar music and Old school Plena music of his Grandfather’s era, and “The Buena Vista Social Club.” He enjoyed rich Symphony music and smooth Jazz. He also enjoyed sports, shooting, botany, and astronomy. He was always curious about the ancient and changing new world around him and beyond. Rafael will be remembered for his broad interests, his dedication to his work, and the love he shared with those closest to him. He was a very generous man, always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved people and he loved his family. He was a born again Christian Lover of God who had a strong hunger to know the Truth (Jesus is The Truth).
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN, with a “Celebration of Life” Service at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.
