Raul Ramos, USAF-Ret.

June 5, 1940 – July 29, 2023

Age 83, of Crown Point, IN passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; daughter, Dr. Trevy (Mason) Ramos & Family; twin daughters, Angela "Angie" C. Ramos (fiancé, Justin Russell) and Alice H. Ramos; sister, Guadalupe (late, Fransisco) Soto; brother, Roque (Rosalinda) Ramos; nieces and nephews: Lydia (Otis) Scholebo, Rosalinda (Armando) Sanchez, David (Vickie) Trinidad, Dahlia (Javier) Salas, Ethel (Dan) Sacha, Linda Lopez, John Lopez, Luis (Rita) Lopez, Anita Garcia, Pedro Camacho, Gerard Camacho, Maria Camacho, Laura Hernandez, Yvette Franco, Fransisco Soto, Santiago (Valentina) Soto, Brandii Ramos, Denise (James) Geary, Tony (Yvonne) Ramos, and Lynda (Vince) Niaves; grand-dogs: Chiquita, Rocky, Rambo, Violet, and Sadie.

Preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Epifania Ramos; siblings: Henrietta (David) Trinidad, Mary Lou (Salvador) Lopez, Samuel Ramos, and Anthony Ramos; nieces and nephews: Sam (still living, Yong S. Lee) Camacho, Carmen Ramos, Deneen Ramos, and Roque S. Ramos.

Raul attended East Chicago Washington High School in 1957. He entered the US Marines where he earned his GED and worked in artillery. He served in Okinawa as well as Vietnam via multiple deployments, earning an Honorable Discharge.

After Raul's completion with the Marines and 4 years of service, he joined the US Air Force, serving 17 years before retiring in June of 1978.

It was during Raul's military commitment that his twin daughters, Angela & Alice Ramos, were born with his first wife, Gail, in Germany.

After Raul's Military Service, he worked for multiple companies including MCI, that covered service to the Midwest and particularly NW Indiana. His work often necessitated travel to South Bend, Indiana, which is how he met his wife Linda.

Married, Raul & Linda had a daughter, Dr. Trevy Ramos.

After leaving MCI, Raul worked as an Electronic Tech in the Electrical Department at Chicago' Jesse Brown VA-Westside until his passing July 29, 2023.

Raul was also a 4th Degree Member of the Good Shepherd Council of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Merrillville, Indiana.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the help and assistance of Unity Hospice and Palliative Care in caring for Raul through his life's transition.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Avenue, Schererville, IN. A Funeral Service will be held at 7:30 PM with Fr. Ted Mauch officiating. A Burial Service with Military Honors will be held at 9:30 AM on August 18, 2023, DIRECTLY AT Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421.  If attending the burial, please arrive at the cemetery one half hour before the start of services.
