RAYMOND E. YOUNG

age 51 of Griffith passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his home. He was born in Hammond, IN to Ray and Dorothy Young. Raymond was a giver and never a taker. He was the first one to raise his hands to make his famous chicken dumplings, meatloaf and steak dinners to help Veteran's and anyone else in need. He was the President of the Sons of American Legion post 485 also a member of the VFW 1563. When Raymond walked into the room and started telling his stories, people stopped to listen. Raymond was a kind man who led with his heart and never his mind. His passing has left a huge hole in our hearts. The world lost a great person.

Survivors include sisters: Mary O'Brien, Carolyn Cruz, Cynthia Helderman and Gail (John) Reato; and many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends Duane Mattingly and Jimmy Murray. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Danny who he missed dearly.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville, IN. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Dc. Raymond Helfen officiating. Raymond will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery Merrillville, IN.
