Richard "Dick" Solan

Age 86, of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2018. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Verna Solan (nee Paquette); sons, Rick (Valerie) Solan and Chris (Kayse) Solan; grandchildren, Jon, Teryn, Lindsey and Dylan Solan, Brittany Hasiak; sister in laws, Annette (Robert) Gries and Elaine (late Andy) Anderson; and other family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Nicki Solan; parents, Peter and Anna Solan; brothers, Michael (still living, Arlene; late Elaine, late Lucille) Solan and Peter (late Lucille) Solan Sr.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 7113 Columbia Ave., HAMMOND, IN from 9:00 - 10:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at St. John Bosco with Fr. Richard Orlinski officiating. Richard will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, IN. Richard was a graduate of Hammond High School and served in the Naval Reserves.  He was a Charter Member of the Hammond Mohawks – Athletic & Conservtion Club. Richard was a Co-Owner of Solan's Greenhouse in Hammond.
