IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard E.
Wurtzbacher Jr.
September 21, 1956 – March 14, 2026
Richard E. Wurtzbacher Jr.
Richard Wurtzbacher Jr, age 69, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Richard is survived by his beloved husband, Robert Nelson; loving daughters, Michelle (Paul) Cornell, Jennifer Sweet, and Nicole (Kevin) Hruskocy; precious grandchildren, Corey, Travis, Mariah, Andria, Brianna, and Chanz; beloved fur babies; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard E. Wurtzbacher Sr and Nancy L. Wurtbacher ( nee Aldrige); brothers and sisters.
Richard was truly one of a kind, known for his vibrant personality and warm spirit. He had a way of lighting up any room he entered and could strike up a conversation with anyone. A natural host and the center of attention, Richard took great pride in his beloved nightclub, “Dicks R U Crazee,” where he created lasting memories for so many.
Above all, Richard was deeply devoted to his family and the life he built. He had a big heart, always doing his best for those he loved. His passion extended to his animals, especially his dogs, whom he adored. Richard’s energy, kindness, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In true Richard fashion, he wouldn’t want a quiet goodbye—he’d want a gathering filled with stories, laughter, and maybe a little dancing.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond, IN.
A Celebration of Life honoring Richard will follow that evening from 6:00 PM until close at his beloved nightclub, “Dicks R U Crazee,” where friends and loved ones are invited to come together, share memories, raise a glass, and celebrate the unforgettable life he lived—just the way he would have wanted.
Richard will be truly missed and lovingly remembered always.
