Rita L. Houston (nee Sprague)

Age 71, of Hammond, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Wayne; mother, Ruth Sprague, brother, Jim (Gail) Sprague, daughter Kimberly (Aaron) Moorman; and precious grandson, RJ Moorman.   She was preceded in death by her father, James Sprague.

Rita attended Hammond High School and graduated from First Baptist High School in 1971. She dedicated her career to customer service, working for numerous companies, most notably the American Medical Association.

Rita was a gifted cook and her creative talents shone through her hobbies which included: scrapbooking, knitting, and making beautiful jewelry.

Above all, Rita was a woman of God who exemplified grace, kindness, and the patience of Job. She was an incredible wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family deeply, and her unwavering support and love touched the lives of so many. Her friendships were a source of joy and inspiration, and she will be remembered as an amazing friend to all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and creativity lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
