Robert “Bobby” J. Villa

age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was born on March 22, 1949, in East Chicago, Indiana. He is survived by his loving daughter, Shaunna Villa; son-in-law, Kenny Hofmann, grandsons; Ty and Nolan Hofmann and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Rochelle Villa; his parents, Peter and Ann Villa; his sisters, Shirley Villa, Virginia Suchanuk, Kathleen Gabel, Mary Lou Comanse; his brothers Peter Villa and James Villa.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army after being inducted in July 1969. He remained deeply proud of being a Vietnam Veteran throughout his life and was a life member of the VFW.

Robert grew up in Marktown in East Chicago and later made his home in Hammond. He graduated from East Chicago Roosevelt High School in 1968. Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career at Inland Steel/Arcelor Mittal, where he worked for 45 years. Robert retired in 2014 and relocated to Spring Hill, Florida.

Robert was known for his positive energy, constant laughter, and true love for life and his family. He enjoyed walking, traveling, attending live music events, and cheering on the Chicago White Sox and Purdue and IU teams. He enjoyed watching all sports and he volunteered many years coaching youth baseball and softball teams and shared his enthusiasm with many young athletes.

Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, a loyal friend, a dedicated worker, and a proud veteran. His warmth, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Solan – Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, Indiana. Burial private. For more information, visit solanpruzin@aol.com .
