Robert A. "Bob" Clark
Robert A. "Bob" Clark, age 97, of Highland, was called by the Lord on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Bob is survived by his loving children, John (Alice) Clark, Ken (Carol) Clark, and Barbara (Paul) Boughamer; grandchildren, Bobby (Amie) Clark, and Jennifer Clark; great-grandson, Braydon; sister, Sally (John) Blackstone; sister-in-law, Eleanor Pomplin; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and wonderful neighbors. Preceded in death by his dear wife Gertrude Clark; his parents, Robert M. Clark and Ruth B. Clark; and his siblings, Donald Clark, Harold Clark, Joan (late, James) McKinney, and John M. Clark.
Bob was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Highland since 1956. Bob was a graduate of Hammond High School, Class of 1944. He was a veteran of WWII, having enlisted in the Navy during his senior year at age 17. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines following training at Naval Station Great Lakes. He attended Texas A&M while in the Navy and, after the war, Bob attended Purdue University Calumet in Hammond. Bob was retired from IBM Corporation in 1986, having worked there for over 37 years on leading edge IBM mainframe computer systems.
Bob and Gertrude, his wife of over 73 years, enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends over many years. Bob had several hobbies such as radio controlled airplanes, stamp and coin collecting, and researching family genealogy. He was a loving father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 directly at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9009 Kennedy Ave, Highland, IN with Rev. Eric Kleinschmidt officiating. Bob will lie in repose at the church from 10:30 AM until time of service and will be laid to rest at Concordia Cemetery in Hammond, IN.
The family wishes to offer a special thank you to Dunes Hospice, Cedar Creek Health Campus, and Wittenberg Assisted Living for their support and care of our father.
