Robert Edward DeLaney Sr.

age 86, of Hammond, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016. Robert is survived by his children: Janice (Kenneth) Evans, Karl DeLaney, Laura (Bryon) Gilliam, Robert E. (Janeen) DeLaney; grandchildren: Larry (Karen) Phelps, Shelly (Julio) Torres, Kenneth (Saranore) Evans Jr., Danielle (Jose) Villapando, Robbie DeLaney, Gil Basaldua, Tabitha Gilliam, Brandy (Adan) Zuniga, Justin (Crystal)Gilliam, Ana Gilliam, Kiara lee Gilliam, Gina Gilliam; ten great grandchildren; sister Evelyn (late James) Bates. Best canine friend Max. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years Marion, son Randy and sisters Lillian and Margie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00-11:00 AM. At rest Elmwood Cemetery Hammond, IN.

Robert proudly served his country in the U.S, Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a longtime member and former acting Commander of American Legion Maywood Post 126. Robert retired from General American in East Chicago where he was employed as a Freightcar Repairman. Robert took great passion playing his guitar, and he loved to dance and sing.
