Robert J. “Bobby D.” Dereski

Age 45, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Robert is survived by his loving parents, Robert Dereski and Guadalupe (nee Moreno) Dereski; his beloved sister, Marisa (Daniel) Alexander; and his cherished nephew, Hunter Alexander. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends whom he cherished. Robert was preceded in death by his loving grandparents and uncle.

Robert was a proud graduate of Bishop Noll Institute, Class of 1998. He was employed at U.S. Steel – Portage Works, where he dedicated 17 years of service. Robert was also a member of the Lowrider Club, a passion that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship, community, and camaraderie.

Known for his kind heart and generous spirit, Robert was a very giving man who was always willing to help others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Solan – Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, Indiana. A Service Celebrating Robert’s Life will take place at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private and entrusted to Solan – Pruzin Funeral Home.
