Obituary

Robert (Bob) Ribic

The passing of a remarkable man; a man most believed too stubborn to bite the bullet. On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, Robert (Bob) Ribic departed from his loving family. A loving brother and uncle, father of three, grandfather of four, great grandfather of six, and honorary grandfather to an uncountable many. He took innumerable under his charge, thus was the size of his loving heart.

A Former Green Beret who served in Vet Nam, he always loved telling his funniest stories. After his service he took great pride in his abilities as a machinist. He could fix everything, even when he didn't want to or know how; a self-proclaimed, "jack of all trades, master of none." A man that proudly embraced everything entailed in raising 3 girls, pink everything, make-up tutorials, fashion opinions… nothing fazed him. He was so devoted to supporting his family and those he loved that he even took up the role of janitor without a single complaint.

In his personal life he was fiercely protective, generous to a fault, and enthusiastically & openly opinionated. He was an armchair political commentator and resident expert about everything, just ask him, he'll tell you.

Seeing his family smile was his lifeblood, and he took pride in seeing them thrive while he stood proudly on the side. He'd refuse to play family games but would always shout out the answers from the peanut gallery. He would laugh with us at his excellent recollection of everyone's embarrassing moments. He introduced many to Monty Python and took great joy in criticizing terrible Sci-Fi B-movies. He taught all his friends and family how to play Magic the Gathering as an official "Guru" and would have long debates into the early morning. He was the family Scrabble Champion (the only family game he would play). An expert in the Chicken Fighting Style. A passionate Bears fan and broken-hearted Bulls fan.

He is a missing piece that cannot be replaced.

A gathering of friends will be held on Friday, 8/16/19 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond, IN 46375 from 4–6 PM. Military Honors will be held at 5 PM.
