Robert A. Wiley
age 91, of Hammond, IN passed away on October 25, 2014 at St. Anthony Home in Crown Point. He is survived by two children: Donna (Dave) Steger, of Springfield, IL, and Robert D. (Monica) Wiley, of San Diego, CA; grandchildren Matthew (Jennifer) Wiley of Santee, CA, and Megan Wiley of San Diego.
Bob was born in Newark, OH, but moved to Hammond as a young child. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Lois. A WW II veteran*, Bob was a tail gunner in a B-24, the Jackpine Joe, with the Fifteenth Air Force of the U.S. Air Force. He had worked as a meat cutter at Gregory's Market, Hessville and Morry's Market, Hammond. He retired from Inland Steel after 13 years of service. He was a parishioner at St. John Bosco Church for nearly 70 years.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville with Fr. Richard Orlinski officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony Home, Crown Point, IN.
