Rogelio  "Rojo" Medina

age 90, of Gary, IN, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Rogelio is survived by his Dear Love, Dorothy Degerberg; loving children, Valerie (Rudolph) Hernandez, Esperanza "Bobbie" (David) Kime, Rogelio Medina Jr. "Tico" and Mark Medina; along with many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Gilbert (Vicenta) Medina, and sister, Margaret (Jesse) Ramirez; many neices and nephews; dear friend and caregiver, Lenny Norris.

Rogelio was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Juan P. Medina and Esperanza Medina (nee Solis); sisters, Amelia (late, Roman) Castaneda and Guadalupe (late, Marcel) Nowakowski.

Rogelio dedicated much of his life to hard work and craftsmanship. He was a skilled carpenter in the East Chicago area and served the City of East Chicago for many years. He also worked for Wisconsin Steel. Beyond his dedication to his work, Rogelio's true passion was music. A talented musician in the Chicagoland area, he brought joy and rhythm to many through his love of performing with his band.

A Memorial Service Celebrating Rogelio's Life will be held Monday, September 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service.
